Description

A petite perennial sedge, forms 12 inch high (equal or wider) mounds of narrow shaggy foliage. The leaves are deep green, semi-evergreen, late spring green star-shaped flower spikes are displayed above the foliage. This sedge occurs in shade to partly shaded woods in wet to dry soil, great landscape potential as woodland groundcover, is a valuable lawn substitute, prefers bright shade or part shade, tolerates full shade but won’t fill in as quickly. Established plants are drought tolerant, pest resistant, unpalatable to deer and other herbivores. In gardens, cut to the ground during late winter before new growth starts.
